Matt varnish
Matt varnish is available either as water-based or pigmented and oil-based varnish.
Both types slightly alter the printed colours.
Water-based matt varnish is applied on the whole surface at the lacquer works in in-line processing, while oil-based varnish is applied on part of the surface at the printing works using a plate.
Water and oil-based matt varnishes are mainly used on coated paper.
